James Dent is the Chief Financial Officer responsible for driving Element’s financial strategy, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, corporate development and financial planning. James has 10+ years of strategic finance experience working with small and mid-sized companies in Canada. Before joining Element, he worked for McCain Capital Partners (MCP), a leading Canadian family investment firm. At MCP, he worked on several platform investments and these companies’ subsequent management and support (including the 2019 investment in Chair-man Mills). Prior to MCP he worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at CIBC Capital Markets, where he executed M&A transactions across various sectors in North America. James holds a B.Comm., Honours, and a BA in History from Queen’s University.
